who we are
The Friends of the Earth (FoE) bulk Food Co-op and Cafe has been operating in the Inner North since the 1970's. We are a not-for-profit enterprise: that means every cent you spend with us goes right back into keeping us running. we are a collective of volunteers, community programs and co-ordinators working towards inspiring the community to support ethical food production and choose waste reducing alternatives.
the food co-op acknowledge that we operate on the stolen land of the Wurundjeri people and that sovereignty of the land of the Kulin Nations was never ceded. We pay respect to their Elders, past and present, and acknowledge the pivotal role that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to play within the community.

moving towards zero waste
REUSE We encourage the community to BYO packaging for the cafe and bulk foods. We also provide clean recycled containers, jars, bags, bowls and cups to help the community reduce waste.
REDUCE Together we've taken action diverting 15 years worth of organic food waste from going to landfill and reused thousands of containers, jars and bags having a direct positive impact on the environment.
COMPOST All organic kitchen scraps and serviettes are composted and collected by Fitzroy Primary School for their chickens and Kitchen garden program.
RETHINK rethinking how we consume while considering food sovereignty, production and reducing waste.
